If you are American or Canadian, you probably know what homecoming is, but for those from other places, a homecoming is a social event whereby old students are invited back to the campus to celebrate its existence. Sport
As you might expect in the US, sport is traditionally linked to homecoming; American Football, soccer, baseball and basketball are often part of the event, which is usually followed by a dance. Cheerleaders
Of course, the school’s cheerleaders would be out in force during breaks between the game; plus there might be other activities during the sporting event. Texas started this tradition and homecoming participants team up and build their own soapbox and the race is held on the day of the homecoming. Marching Band
Some schools have a marching band and the homecoming is the perfect time to dress up and play a few songs. There are only a few occasions in the school year when all the brass instruments, drums and recorders can see the light of day and the homecoming is one of those times.
Evening Dance
For most students, the evening dance is the highlight of the event, as you get to meet all your old friends and find out what they have been up to!
